How To Master Your ‘Work From Home Mindset’

Published Categorized as Inspiration, Miscellaneous

When you make the shift from working for someone else to working for yourself, you’re likely to go through a few stages.

You’ll probably think ‘heck! That was easier to do than I thought. Why didn’t I start working from home much sooner?’

But then the negative thoughts will come. ‘Oh no! What if I can’t do it? What if it all proves too much? What if I’m not motivated enough or smart enough or capable enough to work from home?’

The only thing you can do when these thoughts arise is ignore them. They are not who you are – they are simply a reflection of anxieties you’ve accumulated throughout your life.

Some doubt is normal, and it can actually help drive us to perform better. We are constantly fighting that voice in our heads that says we can’t do it, and replying with ‘See! I told you I could do it’. This is a great feeling and one we should all strive for.

So how can you control that voice inside your head that tells you that you can’t make it work? By mastering your mindset. Here’s how.

Do quick, easy tasks first thing

There’s nothing more satisfying than ticking off your to-do list, and the more items you can tick off first thing in the morning, the better.

This is because quick wins help shift your mindset. It shows you that tasks are achievable and in reach.

Break your tasks down into a task list so that you can tick them off, and turn your goals into achievable steps.

Have a list of mantras you come back to

Mantras work, and if you haven’t used them yet, you need to start. They can help energize you and push you when you feel hopeless.

They remind you that are you just as worthy as anyone else and that you are capable and strong.

I recommend having a list of them somewhere you can access whenever you need a motivation lift. I store mine in a spreadsheet, but you could store them as photos on your phone or set them up as reminders each morning.

You can even use inspiration quotes. Whatever works for you!

Don’t forget the routine

I’ve mentioned before the important of having a good routine.

It’s one of the foundations of success, but many people make the mistake of thinking routine isn’t necessary when working from home.

Don’t make this mistake. With no one monitoring your performance except you, it’s more essential than ever for both being productive and happy.

Have a time you wake up each day, have a designated lunch break, have a time you finish and forget it all and have a method of de-stressing.

You’ll be happier for it and you’ll realize the full potential of working from home!
